What can I say about Austria ? um.................................................They have yummy yogurt. True statement. Their yogurt is very creamy, unlike the yogurt in Switzerland which is more tart. But I guess that is more up to taste preference. Randy preferred Swiss yogurt.
Honestly, we didn’t fair well in Austria . The weather was very cold, rainy, and windy. I wore both the jackets I brought but that didn’t save my face and legs from the frigid conditions. Despite scotch guarding my boots before I left, they sure do get wet inside. I have to avoid puddles and long walks in the rain (which can’t always be avoided) otherwise my socks will be wet within 30 minutes. I will probably have to get new boots because it will most likely rain a lot while we’re here and avoiding the rain will be like trying to avoid animals at the zoo. It’s not going to happen. When visiting Vienna , we found it very easy to get lost. They streets are like New York in the respect that it is a concrete jungle; Very tall buildings that all look the same. My advice to you, don’t go to any large city without a map.
I don’t know what to tell you about Vienna because I didn’t go on the ‘Sound of Music’ tour. I can tell you we ate some good Hebrew pita falafels’. Also, Viennese like to eat in seasons. While there is always a lot of meat around, like beef or pork, they usually only eat game (like stag, rabbit, or hog) during hunting season. So Randy had Stag as a part of a very traditional Viennese dish. I can’t really tell you more about it because I’m not good at describing food. He said it was delicious so I guess that’s all you need to know.
I guess I can tell you that the marble statues around the palace were very impressive. The detail was amazing, from facial expression to muscle tone, not a single detail was left out. It really was remarkable to look up at a very old statue, ten times my size, with seemingly no imperfections. It was the time to correctly use the word awesome.
